I haven't shot a concert since I worked at The Buffalo News in 2012. This was also my first Christian concert, which was unique to say the least. I felt a little rusty but I think I got a couple of frames that work.

I woke up bright and early this morning and headed to Garden Grove for a high school graduation scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Zipping down highway 22, I couldn't help but thinking that a high school graduation at 10 a.m. seemed a little weird and super early. Would parents have to take off work to go see their child don the cap and gown?
As I walked up to the quiet school and checked in at the front office, I found that my skepticism was right. Graduation was not til 4:30 p.m.
GREAT! Now what do I do today? I thought. I wasn't about to have a day where I don't make pictures.
As I left the school and onto the even quieter suburban parkway, the silence was broken with something I haven't heard since my Wisconsin days; a rooster crow. My first reaction is that someone must of had a toy that made a chicken sound, but there was no one around. The sound happened again. As I explored the edges of the parking lot at the Garden Grove Library I saw three chickens perched within the branches of a hedge.
What the heck? I've barely seen squirrels scampering about Orange County let alone chickens.
I snapped a few frames of these dinosaurs like creatures and hunted around hoping to find more of the clan. I found six more chickens pecking and scratching around the grass circling the lot.
I couldn't believe the unexpected sanctuary of chickens, geese and ducks that I found just behind the library. It was a real treat.
One of my best friends on the planet, Sam Gause , rolled through Southern California this weekend to honor Jaclyn and I with his presence. He's heading to Natchez, Mississippi at the end of the month to start as a staff photographer at the newspaper there. It's exciting to see my friends move around the county and do cool things.
Anyways, here's a few photos from my weekend.
